We've had quite the snowy week here in Decorah although not as snowy as some areas it sounds! It's been an odd week for me... Monday I had off for Peg's funeral. The roads had me turning around after only 10 miles. The snow kept coming all day and school (although I wasn't there) ended up releasing at 1:00. I wasn't surprised that school was canceled on Tuesday, but I was when school was canceled again today! Because of all the wind along with a few more inches of snow, the country roads were in pretty terrible shape. Plus, I just got the phone call that we're two hours late for tomorrow too. I certainly don't mind the days off, but I'm not thrilled about having to make the up all in May/June!
The biggest benefit of our snowy weather....getting to spend some time with the girls. It's been a fun (and at times tiring) couple of days. Here are a couple of our "highlights..."
10. Olivia getting a double ear infection but turning into a new person after a double dose of antibiotic and a great nap!
9. Me forgetting to put a diaper on Olivia at night, but Olivia waking up at 2:30 to tell us she had to go potty. Thank you Olivia for preventing a full bed change in the middle of the night!
8. Grace doing some not-so-steady walking (about 3 feet) between mommy and daddy.
7. Me not having to do an ounce of school work (my time is coming when the papers start flowing in 3 weeks).
6. Lots and lots and LOTS of pretend playing with babies - even Gracie was feeding her baby a bottle and food with a fork.
5. Olivia "reading" Moo, Baa, La,La, La to me, learning how to cut with scissors (sort of), and re-discovering a love for tights and dresses (lately she's mostly been interested in "soft pants").
4. Grace being a jump-aholic in her crib, loving playing chase, becoming obsessed with putting shoes on, and giggling non-stop.
3. The girls playing for a solid 20 minutes in the basement shower (no water, just toys) while I picked up - who knew showers could be so interesting.
2. Me and Brian attempting to prevent Gracie from climbing up the stairs about every 20 seconds. Gracie completely ignoring our "no's" and laughing hysterically as she climbed. She thinks this stair climbing (and diving) is a fabulous game - us...not so much!
1. Having dance parties and watching Olivia sing "let's do it, let's do it" (Black Eyed Peas) while demonstrating her new moves - leg kicks and full body shakes - yes, I need to get this on video!
